Keynote Panel Discussion

The panel discussion will bring together diverse stakeholder perspectives on the future of surveys in official labour statistics, addressing rising challenges to their quality and sustainability and the growing demand for more data covering a wide range of topics. It will set the stage for the thematic sessions, raising main issues and offering perspectives and solutions.
Evolving data needs in the world of work and the future of surveys in official labour statistics

Moderated Panel Discussion and Q&A (20 min)

14:00 -15:30

Session 1: Addressing challenges in survey participation and data quality

Session 1 invites presentations that share approaches being implemented to address declining survey response rates and other survey data quality problems arising during data collection. Speakers are encouraged to share the main quality issues affecting the national labour force and related surveys, discuss the strategies (e.g., respondent-driven design), lessons learned, and implications for the future of surveys as a main source of official labour statistics.

Session 2: Survey modularization and integration for work statistics

Session 2 invites presentations focusing on approaches to address population and thematic data gaps and the need for integrated data across survey sources. Strategies include survey modularization and topic rotation, integrated survey systems, specialized surveys for special populations, and rolling surveys or micro-censuses for local area statistics. Highlight policy drivers, approach, prerequisites, achieved/expected improvements, and lessons learned.
